Bentley Continental Supersports; a customer experience

On Friday I was privileged to be asked to drive the new Bentley Supersports ……..... WOW! I collected the Bentley around 08.30am and decided to take it to Carlisle, have a coffee then return for around 11.00am. My car was finished in Black over a Pearlescent White with Linen and Beluga interior - very nice indeed.

The route I chose was through Newcastle then duel carriage way to Carlisle. The reason for this route was to experience city traffic and "sedate" cruising. Once I had left JCT600 Bentley Newcastle I immediately experienced the "grunt" and "power" this car has under the bonnet. The noise was awesome and almost put my own 911 to shame.

The local commuting traffic was hectic as usual but the Bentley Supersports took it in its stride with so much ease yet it felt it wanted to be unleashed. The torque was out of this world. It didn't have the stop/start activated and to me that was a good thing as the other commuters were just deafened by the want of the Bentley.

I then connected to the A69 straight to Carlisle with only 3 roundabouts and 2 speed cameras to contend with. I never switched the radio on as this would have been an insult to Mr W.O. Bentley himself.

Passing "slower" cars was the easiest thing I have ever done as before you knew it, you weren't just past them but a light year in front of them. I knew then that this car, even thought it had a Bentley logo attached to it, was an absolute monster. It wasn't happy unless you "drove" it. I had to keep on looking at the speedo to keep me sane and also keep my licence as it was quite difficult keeping to the recommended speed limit (and I don't drive fast).

I tried out the "flappy paddles" and these too were so responsive. You could feel the gear changes as you would expect to as is a sports car, not a limousine.

Once at Carlisle (feeling comfortable as the interior is as you would expect: like the Savoy Hotel on a lazy Sunday afternoon) and after coffee and scones, I was on my return leg back to JCT600 Bentley Newcastle when I became stuck in a 3 mile tailback behind a Tractor ! Once the opportunity came I used the kick-down facility and to my shock, fear, amazement and thrill, I was passed not only the tail back and tractor but in the next county !

This car is a "brute". It needs to be on a track and not on public roads unless you want to lose you licence. I cannot thank JCT600 Bentley Newcastle enough for this fantastic opportunity to drive this extraordinary Bentley.
